As a New Year brings hope and promises of good cheer, I’m wishing “Happy New Year” to all on this eve of 2011. To celebrate…a new Wattery Totteries design for a baby owl hat with three baby owls.

Owls have become the symbol of “give a hoot” efforts to save our environment and promote a green, eco-friendly earth, and healthy living and eating habits. This is a simple pattern and can be knit with one skein of organic cotton or a soft 100% wool or Alpaca. Tiny buttons or embroidered French knots can be used for the eyes, or leave the owls au naturel.

The edge can be finished to your liking, the one pictured here has a simple rolled brim finished with two rows of single crochet.

Knit in the round, it’s designed to fit a 6-12 mos. old baby, and I also have larger sized patterns with more owls available, please email me at spwatterson at gmail dot com.

The pattern is available at my Etsy shop for $2.50. You’ll receive it via email, free shipping, and you can download it and print it out.
